THE WOMEN OF THE RENAISSANCE

The women of the renaissance had the roll of always being behind their men like in the middle ages women were denied their right in politics. They also had the role of bearing children mostly boys and keeping supplies such as food at home. Only one women made the difference for other women and that was Isabella d' Este.She was known as the the first lady of the Renaissance, she was very smart, she married at the age of sixteen. Her husband was Francesco Gonzaga who was a prince and into marrying Isabella she became the marchioness of Mantua.

Isabella d' Este was a patron of the arts. she collected paintings and helped support artists and poets,the market for art was her playground, she convinced artist to only paint for her and not for others for a good price. She was a patron to artist such as Andrea Mantegna,the Gonzaga court painter,Lorenzo Costa,Dosso Dossi, and the Bellinis in Venice. She had dealings but not always smooth ones with Correggio, Perugino, and Cosme Tura. As a patron Isabella d' Este was a major impact or the renaissance because she was a women and the fact that she also help the renaissance grow with more life in art and it if it wasn't for her art alone would not be noticed even more then it was by men in the renaissance.

Isabella d' Este showed that women can do more then be loyal,get married,bear children,and keep a house clean, she showed to women that she was smart she knew what she wanted and she later on became a biggest impact or the renaissance for art and poetry she was a marchioness of Mantua.Isabella showed how dominate women can be and how hard they can work to get respect, she was not a house wife but a female patron to the arts and the renaissance.
